Job Title, Location & Hours
Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server / PostgreSQL / AWS) – Remote (U.S.-based), Central Hours.
Responsibilities
Own end‑to‑end database architecture, performance, scalability, and reliability across cloud‑hosted environments
Independently plan, design, and manage relational database systems within AWS ecosystems
Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies
Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis
Develop and enhance SQL code, including stored procedures and data models aligned with business requirements
Translate business needs into efficient, scalable database solutions
Lead database migrations and modernization efforts (on‑prem to AWS, cross‑platform conversions, etc.)
Define and execute backup, recovery, and data protection strategies across environments
Establish observability and monitoring across databases and supporting AWS services
Manage FinOps initiatives related to database infrastructure and backup services in AWS
Ensure database security, compliance, and governance best practices
Automate operational tasks using scripting and tooling
Leverage AI‑driven tools and emerging capabilities to improve optimization, monitoring, and overall productivity
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of hands‑on DBA experience in enterprise or cloud‑driven environments
Strong expertise in relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL
Experience working across multiple database platforms and ecosystems
Deep understanding of AWS cloud services, including Amazon RDS, Aurora, and EC2‑based deployments
Experience with data warehouse technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, scalability, and cost optimization strategies
Advanced expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plans
Proven experience developing SQL‑based solutions and implementing business logic at the database layer
Experience with database migration tools such as AWS DMS, SCT, or similar
Proficiency with scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
Strong ownership mentality with the ability to operate independently and drive initiatives
Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills
Compensation
Hourly rate: $60–$65 per hour (W2)
Initial 6‑month contract with strong potential for full‑time conversion
