Production Shift Lead
The Production Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations on a production line within a high-volume food manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient, safe, and quality-driven production while leading and supporting a team of line workers. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly team-oriented, and capable of balancing leadership responsibilities with active participation on the production floor.
Location: Mason City, Iowa
Pay Range: $22.00 an hour
Shift: 12-Hours, on a 4-day rotating schedule
What's the Job?
- Lead and support production line operations to meet daily output, quality, and safety goals
- Train, onboard, and mentor new hires to ensure proper procedures, food safety standards, and job expectations are understood and followed
- Assign job duties and rotate team members as needed to maintain efficiency and coverage
- Provide coverage for line workers during breaks and meal periods, ensuring continuous production flow
- Coordinate staffing needs, including calling in additional personnel when employees are absent or ill
- Act as a primary point of contact between production staff and company supervisors, communicating updates, issues, and performance metrics
- Monitor product quality and compliance with food safety standards, including GMPs and sanitation procedures
- Foster a positive, team-focused work environment that promotes accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
- Identify and escalate equipment, safety, or staffing concerns promptly
- Assist in troubleshooting minor production issues to minimize downtime
What's Needed?
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or leadership training preferred
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership or team lead experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Willing to work 12-hour shifts on a 4-day rotating cycle, which includes regular weekend and holiday coverage.
- Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and quality standards (GMP knowledge preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
