Mitchell 1(a division of Snap-on Inc) is seeking a Commercial Vehicle Technical Writer/Editor to join our Commercial Vehicle Group. In this role, you'll leverage your hands-on diagnostic and repair expertise to research, develop, and maintain repair, diagnostic, and labor information used by technicians across the industry.
What You'll Do:
• Research, develop, and edit commercial vehicle diagnostic and repair content
• Verify technical accuracy and consistency of repair procedures and diagnostic information
• Analyze vehicle systems and determine the most relevant information for technicians
• Collaborate with editors, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams
• Support customers with questions related to repair and diagnostic content
• Recommend product enhancements based on customer feedback and industry trends
• Stay current on emerging commercial vehicle technologies, systems, and repair procedures
What We're Looking For:
• Minimum 1 year of recent hands-on commercial vehicle diagnostic and repair experience
• Strong understanding of commercial vehicle systems and troubleshooting techniques
• Knowledge of OBD II, SAE J1939, and J1587/1708 fault code standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
• AA Degree or Vocational/Technical certification with a commercial vehicle focus
• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification
• ASE Truck Certification
• Experience working with XML or structured technical content
