The University of Pittsburgh is looking for a Post Doctoral Assc. in the lab of Dr. De Lima. Our lab investigates regenerative medicine of the visual system in preclinical studies using in vitro and in vivo models for optic pathway gliomas and glaucoma, focusing on neuroprotection and regeneration of retinal ganglion cells.
• Duties or Responsibilities
The research to be performed will involve in vivo and in vitro studies focused on the survival and regeneration of retinal ganglion cells in animal models of optic pathway gliomas and glaucoma.
These studies will include animal handling, mouse colony management, tissue processing, histology, microscopy, data analysis, and the preparation and presentation of results and progress reports. In vitro studies will involve histological and anatomical assessments, as well as data analysis and presentation of findings. Additional responsibilities include presenting research at seminars, participating in discussions of the scientific literature, and co-mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Candidate must have a PhD in the area of neuroscience or similar, ability to write and publish articles, present the work at conferences and seminar.
