Barra Santos is a Portuguese restaurant in Cypress Park with a tight, talented team and a mighty kitchen. We serve a vibrant Portuguese inspired menu alongside a mostly Portuguese wine list and a strong fortified wine program, all in a lively, intimate setting. The restaurant was a 2024 James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in America, and our Executive Chef is a 2025 James Beard Semifinalist for Best Chef: California.
We’re looking for a full-time/part-time prep cook to join our team. This role is essential to our kitchen’s success and ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and proud of doing things the right way.
What We’re Looking For:
• Previous prep cook experience in a professional kitchen preferred
• Strong knife skills and comfort with repetitive prep tasks done with care and consistency
• Organized, clean, and efficient work habits
• Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions precisely
• Comfortable working independently while supporting the larger kitchen team
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Curiosity and interest in learning Portuguese flavors, techniques, and ingredients
• Someone who takes pride in being a foundational part of a serious kitchen
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Daily vegetable, protein, and sauce prep
• Following prep lists and recipes to exact standards
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of prep areas
• Proper labeling, storage, and food safety practices
• Supporting line cooks and chefs with timely, accurate prep
• Helping maintain consistency and quality across services
