Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I), the incumbent performs as a skilled Information Technology Associate (ITA) providing critical technical support and information related to Information Technology (IT) projects, products and services. The incumbent participates in routine system monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation. The incumbent provides technical and analytical phone support related to multiple hardware and software platforms, such as, but not limited to: desktop computers (PCs), mobile devices (e.g., tablets and mobile phones), laptops, printers, in-house applications, and third party software, with strong knowledge in Microsoft Office products. The incumbent analyzes, troubleshoots, documents, and resolves requests remotely while using IT ticketing software. The incumbent identifies trends and major incidents, report and escalate them to the team and management. The incumbent provides introductory training/training material on various productivity and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Zoom, and WebEx.
The incumbent participates in special projects with peers and attends project related meetings, and communicates with LDC management, and team members to provide status on tasks and projects. The incumbent prepares written status reports and end user documentation and training material, maintains software product documentation and tests software systems using test cases and test data to meet defined functional and non-functional requirements. The incumbent is expected to develop and apply foundational knowledge in data center operations and support services. The incumbent creates change control documents and implementation procedures, and coordinates the implementation for new technology services. This position provides an opportunity to grow technical skills while contributing to the reliable operation of mission-critical systems.
The incumbent is expected to work as a collaborative team member with peers, other sections/divisions, and those contacted during the course of duties while maintaining professionalism (i.e., business standards related to work behavior and attire) at all times. Successful performance by the incumbent requires resourcefulness, organization, flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adjust to meet workload demands.
The incumbent will be assigned to either of two shifts (day and swing/grave shifts) and may work a five-day workweek inclusive of Saturdays and/or Sundays. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to work overtime are essential to provide round-the-clock coverage that aligns with the business requirements of LDC's customers. Schedule may be adjusted contingent upon business needs.

Department Information The Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) is a small civil service department whose mission is to provide responsive nonpartisan and confidential legal services and information technology support services to the California State Legislature and in support of the legislative process. This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento. - 2+ years of general information technology experience performing technical, analytical, or support tasks for computer systems or services.
- 1+ years of experience in customer service and support working in a help desk or call center environment.
