Under general supervision from the Education Administrator I in the Focused Monitoring and Technical Assistance II (FMTA II) Unit, the Associate Director of Data Monitoring and Local Educational Agency Support, and the Director of the Special Education Division, the Office Technician (OT) will be responsible for implementing clerical procedures independently, and as a team member, perform the more difficult clerical duties. Responsibilities include correspondence preparation, database entry and retrieval of information, organization and tracking of various clerical tasks, providing support to staff, and completing other duties. This position is headquartered in Sacramento, and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office. Travel to attend meetings and training may be required.
Duties:
• Review reports and correspondence for format, grammar, and spelling consistent with the Department policy, the California Department of Education Style Manual, and the Correspondence Guide.
• Perform data entry for correspondence reviews and other data collection projects as needed.
• Respond to complex and sensitive information requests including, but not limited to, public record requests.
• Prepare, review, and process travel advances, travel reimbursements, and training requests for unit staff
• Act as unit timekeeper by maintaining and processing staff attendance records.
• Maintain, improve, and/or develop unit filing systems.
• Prepare confidential information consistent with the department's policy.
• Projects and other job related duties as assigned.
